Irax Ltd was established in the year 1999 in its current form, having had its inception out of the consultancy activities of the founders over a number of years preceding this.
Following an initial setup and development period in the MD's converted attic, we attracted our first business network clients - and moved out into Business Lodge in Bury on the strength of this. Following a short period there, the company made a move to longer term accomodation in Fernhills House, just a few hundred metres up the road. That move, in 2001 coincided with the start of development work on the Sky TV database systems that have formed a major strand in our technology portfolio.
The company always intended to grow, but only in a cautious and sustainable manner. Companies for whom we provide IT support functions, need to know that we will continue to offer a long term IT support service, not to be "here today and gone tomorrow" as so many players in the SME support arena tend to be. As such the company operates without debts, and with a significant banked reserve.
By 2006 this policy of sustainable growth had lead to more customers, more staff and larger projects. This meant that we had outgrown the space and facilities we occupied, and we more than doubled the size of our premises through a move to the prestigious Waterfold Business Park, on the other side of town.
