One of the ways we do this is through the use of Open Source software. We promote and provide technical support for a range of Open Source products, all of which are freely available to business users. Open Source products are emerging as real alternatives to proprietary software, either as a complete package or individual programs - and since Open Source and proprietary software interface with each other, implementation is smooth and trouble free.
A key example is the use of Linux as a server operating system. This can deliver exceptional results in terms of functionality and reliability, while saving thousands of pounds in license fees and still allowing users to continue using their familiar Windows desktop computers.
Using Open Source software on desktops running Windows - for example the free OpenOffice suite - can also make a lot of sense in the right circumstances. Even Linux desktops are possible - for example in a call center environment. In all cases we can give advice on where real savings can be made, and where proprietary software remains the most appropriate, depending on your particular circumstances.
